For nearly 4 decades we’ve been one of the most trusted and reputable names in certified transmission repair shops in San Marcos. We’ve just about seen it all when it comes to automotive transmissions. Whether it be a 1960’s classic muscle car or a brand new mini-van, we can repair and maintenance it! On top of nearly 40 years of experience, our mechanics are ASE certified, and our shop is ATRA and AAA certified as well. We believe complete customer satisfaction is a two-part equation: Quality repairs done right the first time, and a friendly and expert staff who truly cares about the customer.

Customer Service Is Our Top Priority
When it comes to our reputation and client satisfaction, we strive to be the absolute best. We take pride in being one of the most sought after transmission repair shops in San Marcos and the surrounding North County area. As a second-generation family-owned business, we understand the importance of building lasting relationships with our clients. We treat our customers like family and stay actively involved within our San Marcos community. We’ve been here since 1983, and plan on staying for many years to come!

We Can Repair It All
Providing excellent customer service is just part of being one of the best transmission repair shops in North County. What ultimately keeps our customers coming back, is our ability to correctly diagnose and repair nearly every vehicle that comes through our garage doors. Our team of mechanics have over 100 years of combined experience, so there isn’t much we haven’t seen under the hood. We value our customer’s time and hard-earned money and strive to complete each job efficiently and correctly the first time.
We can repair a wide range of makes and models, both automotive and manual transmissions. We offer everything from scheduled maintenance to full-on transmission rebuilds and transmission replacements.

Certified and Approved Repairs

Saying you’re one of the best at something means very little if you can’t prove it, and this is the main reason certifications are important to us. Seeing that a shop is ASE Certified or AAA approved says a lot more about the quality of our services than we ever could. These certifications bring peace of mind to our customers and allow us the opportunity to grow and improve the services we offer. There are numerous certification organizations within the automotive repair industry, and the most well-known and widely respected is the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

ASE Certifications are obtained by each mechanic and cover over 50 different areas of the automotive repair industry. It is the most extensive automotive training program in the United States and is considered the industry standard by most automakers and experts. To get a better idea of the difficulty of obtaining and renewing ASE Certification, we’ve provided the requirements as found on ASE’s official webpage.

“In addition to passing an ASE Certification test, automotive technicians must have two years of on the job training or one year of on the job training and a two-year degree in automotive repair to qualify for certification. The tests are challenging. Only two out of every three test-takers pass on their first attempt. To remain ASE certified, professionals must retest every five years to keep up with ever-advancing automotive technology.”

On top of our mechanics being ASE certified, Metro Transmission and Automotive is also certified by Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA), we’re an AAA Approved Auto Repair Center, and maintain an A+ rating with the BBB. Transmission repair is more than just a job to us. It’s our passion, and we’re completely dedicated to being one of the best in the business.
